Our Commitment to Children in Need

Mt Zion United Church of Christ is proud to be a partner congregation with Rowan One Church One Child (ROCOC), a vital ministry that serves children and teens in our community who face abuse, neglect, dependency, and poverty.

About One Church One Child

ROCOC is a collaborative partnership between the Rowan County Department of Social Services (RCDSS) and local churches and civic organizations. The program's mission is clear and compelling:

• Ensure healthy, safe, and protective outcomes for vulnerable children and teens
• Assist children with open cases through RCDSS Children's Services Division and Work First Family Assistance
• Keep children safely in the homes of their birth families, relatives, or close family friends whenever possible

How Mt Zion Makes a Difference

As a participating church in this ministry, Mt Zion UCC demonstrates Christ's love through practical action. Our congregation supports ROCOC in multiple ways:

Prayer Support

We regularly lift up the children, families, and social workers involved in this ministry during our worship services and prayer gatherings.

Financial Contributions

Our members contribute to the ROCOC fund, which purchases life-essential items for children and teens in need. All financial gifts are distributed by RCDSS social workers to families who need support.

In-Kind Donations

Throughout the year, Mt Zion collects items from the ROCOC wish list, including clothing, school supplies, hygiene products, and other essentials that make a real difference in children's lives.

A Ministry of Hope

One Church One Child embodies the biblical call to care for "the least of these" (Matthew 25:40). Through this partnership, Mt Zion UCC works alongside other faith communities and the Department of Social Services to create a safety net of love and support for Rowan County's most vulnerable children.

Every donation, every prayer, and every act of service helps ensure that children in crisis have the resources and support they need to thrive.
